A New $10 Million Project Is About To Make Parking So Much Easier at the Orlando Airport!

From the trouble of finding a spot to paying the fees to hauling your luggage back and forth from the car, sometimes it’s just more headache than its worth. Parking at the Orlando International Airport is no different, but it looks like they’re hoping to improve the process soon!

Spectrum News 13 reports that the Orlando International Airport (MCO) is looking to install Parking Guidance System technology in their parking structures. This is similar to systems in place at Disney Springs, where digital boards display the number of spots available in a given lot, and red and green lights above the spots let you know which ones are empty or occupied.

The value of this procurement is estimated at $9,600,000 for software, hardware, installation, commissioning, warranty, and seven years of support and maintenance,” the airport said in a release. “The contract is scheduled to be awarded in June 2024.”

The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) Board also recently approved a contract with Allied Universal Security Service for Curbside Traffic Management Services. This would add personnel to keep traffic flows going at Terminal A, B, and C curbs. Back in October, GOAA CEO Kevin Thibault hinted at these changes as part of an initiative to improve passenger experiences at MCO.
